Experienced Odoo team: why project results depend on who implements it

The same Odoo brings order to one company and sends another back to Excel. The difference is team experience: how to check it and how Deep Vision meets this criterion.

Published: 6 min read
Short answer: An experienced Odoo team is a group of specialists who understand not only system configuration but also business processes, finance and industry specifics. The outcome of an Odoo project depends more on the experience of the people implementing it than on the software itself. Deep Vision, an Odoo Gold Partner from Tashkent, has experienced senior specialists who know industries and finance.

Choosing an experienced Odoo team looks like a secondary question to many business owners: "Odoo is the same software whoever installs it." In practice, the same system brings order to management in one company and, a year later, sends another one back to Excel. The difference is not the software. It is the team. This article explains what experience changes, how to check it yourself and how Deep Vision meets this criterion.

What is an experienced Odoo team and why does it matter?

An experienced Odoo team is a group of specialists who know Odoo technically and can also redesign business processes and advise on finance and management decisions.

ERP projects are hard everywhere. Gartner expects that by 2027 more than 70% of recently implemented ERP initiatives will fail to fully meet their original business goals (Gartner). The cause is rarely the software. More often, requirements were gathered badly, processes were never rethought and staff were not prepared.

In 2020 BCG studied digital transformations and identified six factors that drive success. Companies that got all six right raised their odds of success from 30% to 80%. One of those factors is high-caliber talent, yet only one in four organizations in the study cleared that bar (BCG). In other words, a strong team is a scarce resource, and it deserves a careful choice.

What does a less experienced team miss on an Odoo project?

This is about the number of projects someone has carried to completion and their business background, not about age. Specialists who code well but have not yet delivered many ERP projects tend to struggle in the same places.

Negotiating with the owner. Owners often say, "Keep everything as it was, just put it in the system." An experienced consultant is willing to push back and show, with evidence, which old habit is hurting the business. A team without that experience implements every wish and ends up automating chaos.

Redesigning processes. Odoo's standard flows come from the experience of thousands of companies. An experienced specialist proposes the standard first and writes custom code only when there is a real need. A less experienced team answers every request with a new module, which makes every future version upgrade more expensive.

Finance and accounting logic. If the costing method, inventory valuation, VAT and management accounting are set up wrong, the reports look polished but the numbers are false. Only someone who understands finance catches this early. More on this: what management accounting is.

Managing risk. Data migration, the parallel-run period, staff resistance and the go-live date are planned in advance by a team that has seen them before. Common pitfalls are covered in 7 ERP implementation mistakes.

Time and budget. McKinsey and the University of Oxford studied more than 5,400 IT projects and found that large projects run on average 45% over budget and deliver 56% less value than predicted (McKinsey). Team experience is one of the factors that reduces such deviations.

How can you check an Odoo team's experience?

The good news is that you can check experience through public data, not promises. Use this list.

  • Is the provider listed in the odoo.com partner directory, and at which tier (Ready, Silver or Gold)?
  • How many Odoo-certified experts does the listing show, and for which versions?
  • How many client references are there, and from which industries?
  • What is the customer retention rate?
  • Does the team consist only of developers, or also of consultants, finance people and industry experts?
  • Who will lead your project, and how many ERP projects has that person completed?
  • Will they let you speak with a client from your industry?
  • In the first meeting, do they ask questions or quote a price straight away?
  • Which of your requirements did they answer with "no, you should not do that"?

The last question is especially revealing. If a team never objects to anything, it is probably looking at a technical spec, not at your process. For a full list of questions to ask, see how to choose an Odoo partner in Uzbekistan.

What do Odoo partner tiers say about a team's experience?

An Odoo partner tier is an official status that Odoo reviews every year based on new users delivered, certified staff and customer retention.

Odoo's official requirements (odoo.com):

  • Ready: 10 new Odoo Enterprise users per year and 1 certified active internal resource, with no retention minimum.
  • Silver: 75 new users per year, 3 certified staff and at least 70% retention.
  • Gold: 300 new users per year, 6 certified staff and at least 80% retention.

Gold is the highest tier. Three hundred new Enterprise users a year means the team delivers a large, steady volume of projects. That is exactly where experience comes from: each new project adds new situations, industries and lessons.

How does the Deep Vision team meet this criterion?

Deep Vision is an official Odoo Gold Partner from Tashkent. Anyone can verify this on Deep Vision's page in the Odoo partner directory. As shown there (checked 13 October 2026):

  • 7 Odoo-certified experts (versions 17 to 19).
  • 20+ client references, mostly wholesale, retail and manufacturing, plus construction, logistics and entertainment.
  • The largest client has 100+ users; the average project is about 22 users.
  • Customer retention of 89%, against the Gold minimum of 80%.

Beyond the numbers, team composition matters. Deep Vision is not only developers: the team includes experienced senior specialists who know industries and finance. So a project starts with understanding the business, not with a technical spec. Deep Vision has moved companies from 1C, SAP and scattered tools to Odoo; read more in our 1C to Odoo migration guide.

There are public results too. At Timsoll, an auto parts company with 18 branches and 7,000+ SKUs, setting up a new product in the system went from 6 to 8 months down to 2 to 3 days. Another client with 100+ employees consolidated scattered tools into one Odoo and cut yearly licence and subscription costs from about $30,000 to about $11,000 (case study).

Experience also grows by sharing knowledge. The Deep Vision team produced Odoo's Uzbek translation, ran 4 hackathons, 3 seminars and an online Odoo course, and Odoo is taught with Deep Vision at 3 universities to 300+ students a year. More about the company: why Deep Vision.

Is an experienced team more expensive?

Per hour, sometimes yes. Over the whole project, often the opposite. An experienced consultant turns down unnecessary custom code, catches mistakes during configuration and lowers the risk of a second implementation. A project that starts cheap and has to be redone a year later is the most expensive kind. When you compare offers, compare outcomes, timelines and support terms, not hourly rates.

Frequently asked questions

How do I recognize an experienced Odoo team?

Check the tier in the Odoo partner directory, the number of certifications, references and the retention rate. In the first meeting, notice what questions they ask about your business.

Does certification guarantee experience?

A certificate proves knowledge of Odoo, not business experience. Ask for references and completed projects alongside certifications.

Does a small company need an experienced team too?

Yes. A small project has less budget room for mistakes. An experienced team uses standard Odoo features and avoids unnecessary spending.

Who is on the Deep Vision team?

Seven Odoo-certified experts (per the directory listing), plus experienced consultants who know industries and finance. Consulting, configuration, development and training run together on each project.

How long does an Odoo implementation take?

In Deep Vision's experience, a typical rollout takes 2 to 6 months. Standard Sales and Inventory often go live in 6 to 8 weeks.
