Where to buy Odoo: 12 criteria for choosing a reliable Odoo implementation partner

Twelve verifiable criteria for choosing an Odoo implementation partner: what to look for, how to check it yourself, and how Deep Vision measures up.

Published: 6 min read
Short answer: When choosing an Odoo implementation partner, ignore the sales pitch and look at what you can verify: the partner tier in the odoo.com directory, the number of certified experts, customer retention, references, industry and finance expertise, an Uzbek interface and ready local modules. You can check each of the 12 criteria below yourself in 5–10 minutes. Deep Vision is an official Odoo Gold Partner from Tashkent, so for each criterion we also show our own answer, with facts.

Odoo is the same software everywhere, yet the outcome depends heavily on who implements it. Choosing an Odoo implementation partner is one of the most expensive decisions in an ERP project: lost months, rework and staff who stop trusting the system cost far more than the licences. This article is a decision framework: for each criterion it explains what to look for, how to check it yourself, and how Deep Vision measures up.

Why does choosing an Odoo implementation partner matter more than choosing the software?

An Odoo implementation partner is the company that configures Odoo around your processes, migrates your data, trains your people and supports the system after go-live.

Gartner expects that by 2027 more than 70% of recently implemented ERP initiatives will fail to fully meet their original business goals (Gartner). The causes are rarely the software itself; they are project management, process design and team quality. BCG reports that 70% of digital transformations fall short, but companies that get six key factors right raise their odds of success from 30% to 80%, and high-caliber talent is one of those factors (BCG). When you pick a partner, you are really picking your project's odds.

What are the 12 criteria for choosing a reliable Odoo partner?

1. Official partner tier

Odoo ranks partners in three tiers: Ready, Silver and Gold. Gold is the highest, requiring 300 new Enterprise users a year, 6 certified internal experts and at least 80% customer retention (Odoo). How to check: search for the company in the odoo.com/partners directory. A provider that is not listed there is not an official partner. Deep Vision: official Odoo Gold Partner, with a public partner page.

2. Certified team

Certification shows that a specialist knows Odoo's standard features. How to check: the partner page lists the number of certified experts and their versions. Certificates on old versions say little about a new project. Deep Vision: 7 Odoo-certified experts across v17 to v19.

3. Customer retention

Retention is the share of clients who keep working with the partner. It is the most honest signal of support quality. How to check: the percentage is shown on the directory page. Deep Vision: 89%, against a Gold minimum of 80%.

4. References and their mix

The number, industries and size of references show whether the partner has served companies like yours. How to check: read the reference list on the partner page and ask to call one or two clients. Deep Vision: 20+ references, the largest client has 100+ users, the average project is about 22 users.

5. Speed to first result

A long project is an expensive project. How to check: ask when the first module will be used in real daily work and request a phased plan. Deep Vision: standard Sales and Inventory often go live in 6–8 weeks; a full rollout typically takes 2–6 months.

6. Quality process

A quality implementation has a requirements document, test scenarios, a sign-off and a warranty period. How to check: ask to see sample documents from a previous project. Deep Vision: we start with diagnostics and work through a phased plan with acceptance at each stage.

7. Industry expertise

Wholesale, manufacturing and construction each have their own processes and pitfalls. How to check: ask about a typical problem in your industry and listen to the answer. Deep Vision: most of our references are in wholesale, retail and manufacturing, with projects in construction, logistics and entertainment too.

8. Finance competence

If the chart of accounts, costing or VAT is set up wrong, you cannot trust your reports. How to check: ask whether the team includes a consultant who understands finance. Deep Vision: our team includes experienced specialists who know finance and industries, not only programmers.

9. Experienced team

Discussing processes with an owner, saying "no" and spotting risk all take experience. How to check: ask who will lead your project and which projects they led before. Deep Vision: we have moved companies to Odoo from 1C, SAP and scattered tools.

10. Ready local modules

Uzbekistan has requirements such as Asl Belgisi digital marking and Didox e-invoicing. Building them from scratch each time costs time and money. How to check: ask whether a ready module exists and which clients use it. Deep Vision: ready Odoo modules for Asl Belgisi and Didox.

11. Uzbek language

Staff adopt a system faster in their own language. How to check: ask for the demo in Uzbek. Deep Vision: in the Odoo 19 source, 360 of 376 Uzbek translation files credit the Deepvision team, and about 97% of 60,618 strings are translated. More: Odoo in Uzbek.

12. Support after go-live

Go-live is only the start. How to check: ask in writing for response times, the ticketing process and version upgrade terms. Deep Vision: 89% retention is public evidence of our support quality.

Which of the 12 criteria matters most?

They do not carry equal weight. The first three (tier, certifications, retention) are public data confirmed by odoo.com, so they act as a filter: if a provider fails them, there is no need to go further. The next ones (industry, finance, experience, speed) are tested in meetings through questions and documents. The last three (local modules, language, support) shape your daily life after go-live. Evaluate in that order and the decision takes a few weeks and rests on evidence.

How can you check an Odoo partner yourself?

Bring this list to every meeting with a candidate:

  • Is the company in the odoo.com/partners directory, and at which tier?
  • How many certified experts does it have, and on which versions?
  • Is retention above the 80% Gold minimum?
  • Are there at least 2 references from your industry you can call?
  • Does the written plan name the week of the first result?
  • Does the team include consultants and finance people, or only programmers?
  • Is there a ready solution for Didox and Asl Belgisi?
  • Are support terms written into the contract?

If a provider cannot answer clearly or says "we'll figure it out later", treat it as a warning sign. Twelve more questions: how to choose an Odoo partner in Uzbekistan. Common pitfalls: 7 ERP implementation mistakes.

Frequently asked questions

Can I buy Odoo directly from Odoo?

You can buy the licence, but configuration, migration and training are usually done by a local partner who knows your language, tax rules and processes.

What is the practical difference between Gold and Silver?

Gold requires 300 new Enterprise users a year, 6 certified experts and 80% retention; Silver requires 75, 3 and 70%. The gap reflects project volume and team depth.

Is a Gold partner overkill for a small company?

No. Our average project is about 22 users. An experienced team spots mistakes early in small projects too.

How should I judge the cheapest quote?

Compare what is included: migration, training, testing and support. A low price often hides later rework costs.

How long should partner selection take?

Usually 2–4 weeks: meetings with 2–3 candidates, a directory check and calls to references.
